چکیده

Unilateral agenesis of the internal carotid artery (lCA) is a very rare anomaly. Generally, when the ICA is congenitally absent, blood is carried to the affected side through the circle of Willis by the basilar artery and the opposite ICA. We report a case of unilateral agenesis of the ICA in which the affected hemisphere was supplied by an anomalous artery between the cavernous parts of the two ICAs. Only nine other angiographic reports of intercarotid anastomosis of this type are in the literature [1 -8].

Rapid revascularization after therapeutic parent artery occlusion for a large intracavernous carotid artery aneurysm.

A 21-year-old woman presented with an unruptured large intracavernous aneurysm, which was spontaneously revascularized via unusual collateral pathways a short time after extracranial-intracranial bypass and surgical ligation of the proximal internal carotid artery. The patient had been treated for a large basilar trunk aneurysm with intraaneurysmal embolization using Guglielmi detachable coils,...

Ophthalmoplegia with contralateral hemiplegia. Occlusion of the internal carotid artery due to thrombosis of an intracavernous aneurysm.

A left ophthalmoplegia and right hemiplegia were due to thrombosis of an intracavernous aneurysm with occlusion of the left internal carotid artery. Ophthalmoplegia with contralateral hemiplegia is probably a rare syndrome. Thrombosis of an intracavernous aneurysm is probably a rare cause of occlusion of the internal carotid artery.

Right aortic arch related to Kommerell diverticulum and internal carotid artery agenesis.

A 31-year-old woman presented with blood pressure somewhat lower on the left compared with the right arm, hyposthenia, and left arm claudication. A vascular ultrasound examination demonstrated the absence of internal left carotid associated with left subclavian artery stenosis. A multidetector computed tomography using a 64-row scanner (Figure 1) confirmed the echographic results and revealed t...

Pituitary apoplexy caused by ruptured internal carotid artery aneurysm.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE We report the first case of pituitary apoplexy caused by the rupture of an intracavernous carotid artery aneurysm embedded in a pituitary adenoma. CASE DESCRIPTION A 46-year-old man presented with clinical and CT findings typical of pituitary apoplexy. MRI showed an unusual flow-void protrusion into the intratumoral hematoma, which, however, was not diagnosed as a ruptu...

At Doppler US...
